Shipping a rule list for privacy programs by default?

Postby bancfc » Mon Jun 06, 2016 1:05 pm

Hello, I work on a privacy-centric Whonix distro. We've recently packaged configuration settings for locally accessing a big selection of privacy and security applications from Tor Browser - a common use case where foxyproxy is used to allow users to benefit from the browser's privacy protection on other networks besides Tor:

https://github.com/Whonix/usability-mis ... yproxy.xml

Please consider shipping our configuration file by default to serve as a use example and also to benefit as many users as possible.

Hi,

We'd be delighted to help. But why can't you simply copy the foxyproxy.xml at https://github.com/Whonix/usability-mis ... yproxy.xml into the appropriate directory in the Firefox profile? It'll be picked up automatically.

Thanks. Everything works OK with symlinks for our users.

I wanted to see if you are open to shipping this with your addon out-of-the-box so many people as possible can take advantage of the rule file.

Why would we ship default rules for things like http://(forum|ugha)\.i2p/.*$
It doesn't make sense unless you think that all FoxyProxy users are using i2p?
